This is part of on going series using Tarot and sacred geometry as part of my inspiration, so this image is something I have seen for a long time and wanted to incorporate it into an image that I could use. This image although shot with a 50mm lens (fixed) is a colour image it is also monochromatic and at its core its light and shade conveying texture. Using a 2 dimensional surface to convey 3 dimensions is something I was taught to do when i was a trainee photo-journalist using wet processes with black and white film and darkroom techniques. I have been inspired by Tarot and Oracle decks which has resulted in the this latest project which in the most part if a complete departure from what I have made in the past. Although this series is a complete departure the principles of lens based image making remain the same, so far this project has been a challenge at times but it’s one that has been very satisfying in terms of the work I am making.

The Four of Wands is a card of joyful celebration, blissful happiness and appreciation for the good things in life. You may commemorate a significant event or milestone such as a wedding, birthday, homecoming or reunion.
